Virtual Spiritual Exercises

Virtual Spex Logo

We are going virtual at Our Lady of Bethesda Retreat Center...at least for the time being.

We are pleased to offer our Ignatian Spiritual Exercises with Spiritual Direction in an on-line format.  While unconventional, we whole-heartedly believe that a virtual retreat is better than no retreat at all. With that said, we want to make this process as simple as possible for you.

Day 1 Evening

  • 7:00 PM Introductory Talk
  • 8:00 Meditation

Day 2 All Day

  • 9:00 Morning Offering & Meditation
  • 10:30 Conference
  • 11:15 Mass
  • Lunch/Rest
  • 3:30 Meditation
  • 5:00 Meditation
  • 6:00 Dinner
  • 7:00 Conference
  • 8:15 Meditation

Day 3 Morning

  • Morning Offering on your own
  • 9:00 Meditation
  • 10:00 Mass

You will have the opportunity to schedule personal Spiritual Direction with an experienced director via Zoom. A great way to get some feedback about how your retreat is going and how to apply the lessons to your life.

Space will be limited for these appointments and dependent on number of Spiritual Directors available. If you already have a Spiritual Director we encourage you to reach out to that person.

Please Note: Siritual direction is not a counseling session. Its purpose is to discover God’s will in your concrete daily reality in order then to fulfill it. It is a dialogue based on faith, that takes place in the context of the Church (the Church’s teaching, sacramental theology, mission, etc.).

Tips for finding silence.

  • Create a spot in your home where you can be away from any other activity. Here are some ideas for Creating a Prayer Corner in your home.
  • Discuss with other family members your desire to spend this quiet time in prayer. If appropriate, invite them to join you on this journey.
  • Plan your mealtimes to allow you to continue your prayer time. Make something ahead of time, or make the task of preparing the meal a prayer itself.

What are the Spiritual Exercises?

The Spiritual Exercises are an opportunity to retreat from the hectic, noisy world and encounter Jesus Christ in a more profound and personal way. These retreats touch on so many important aspects of the spiritual life. The central principles are self-knowledge, discernment of God’s will, and the decision to follow Christ our Lord more closely.
